Abstract
1294422 Recovering manganese salts UNION RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLEN KRAFTSTOFF AG 20 April 1971 [2 May 1970] 10131/71 Heading C1A Pure manganese salts are recovered from manganese salt solutions containing organic impurities by adding a water-miscible solvent which is an alcohol or acetone in which the organic impurities are readily soluble, in an amount governed by the concentration of the manganese salt, to precipitate the manganese salt and separating the precipitated manganese salt from the dilute solution. Optionally, the manganese salt solution is filtered before addition of the solvent. Examples of the solvent are methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol and acetone. The solvent is distilled from the filtrate after separation of the precipitated manganese salt and the residue can be added to the starting material for a subsequent separation.
