Abstract
1293791 Impact resistant acrylate rubber compositions BP CHEMICALS Ltd 10 Nov 1969 [3 Dec 1968] 57246/68 Heading C3G An impact resistant thermoplastic composition comprises 10 to 40 parts by weight of C 4 to C 8 -alkyl acrylate-acrylonitrile copolymer rubber, which is cross-linked with up to 3% by weight of allyl methacrylate or a mixture thereof with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and/or polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate and from 90 to 60 parts of a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, at least a part of which is grafted on to the said rubber. Examples are given in which n-butyl acrylate and acrylonitrile are copolymerized with allyl methacrylate, alone or together with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate or polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate in aqueous emulsion and subsequently grafted with styrene and acrylonitrile, the resulting latex being co-coagulated with a latex of styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer.
