Abstract

1293715 Stabilizing photographic dye images FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 20459/71 Heading G2C A photographic dye image is stabilized by treating the image after development with an aqueous solution containing at least one watersoluble compound of the formula: - wherein R 1 is H, alkyl, allyl, aryl or NHR 3 ; R 2 and R 3 each represent H, alkyl, carboxyalkyl, sulphoalkyl, allyl or aryl; said R 1 and R 2 may together form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; X is O or NH; and k, m and n are each 0 or 1, or an acid addition salt thereof, and at least one water-soluble compound of the formula:- wherein R 4 , R 5 , R 6 and R 7 each represent H, alkyl, halogen carboxylic acid group, sulphonic acid group or -CH=NOH; p is 2 or 3, q is 0 or 1, and p+q is always 3. The solution preferably contains 1 to 100 g/litre of the first identified compound and 0À1 to 10g/litre of the compound of the second-written formula. Many examples of each compound are given. The solution preferably contains urea and hydroquinone, or parabanic acid and hydroquinone. This process prevents the fading of colour images due to light and heat and/or the formation of stains.
