Abstract

1293438 Rotary drilling, pile driving P J-M T ALLARD 2 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969 28 Jan 1970] 42001/70 Headings E1F and E1H Collar attached to a pipe or pile 2 to enable it to be_rotated consists of chains 7, 8 connected at their ends by bridge pieces 9. The chain 7 is connected to the bridge pieces by pins passing through the flanges of the bridge pieces, and one of these pins is removable to allow the collar to be removed. The other chain. 8 is connected at each end to a hydraulic actuator 13, which is mounted on the bridge piece, and enables the collar to be tightened on the pipe. The bridge pieces are of U-section, with the ends of the flanges curved to fit the shape of the pipe. The collar is connected to vertically acting jacks 18, and jacks 5 which oscillate the collar as vertical pressure is applied by the jack 18.
