Abstract

1293343 Sealing two surfaces TAPE PROJECTS Ltd 21 Oct 1969 [22 Oct 1968] 49944/68 Heading B5N [Also in Division B6] An adhesive seal for securing two surfaces A, B comprises a carrier layer C, e.g. of paper, having a density greater than 5 g./m.<SP>2</SP> and less than 50 g./m.<SP>2</SP> and being coated on each face with a layer of adhesive D, E; the internal bond in the carrier layer being weaker than the cohesive strength of the adhesive whereby separation of two surfaces secured together by the seal will result in splitting of the carrier layer. The seal may be cut from a tape in roll form which is interleaved with liner F, which is suitably wider than the seal and is provided with transverse ribbing. In an embodiment, the flap H of an envelope G is secured with the seal so that when the envelope is opened the carrier layer is split and prevents resealing.
