Abstract

1293286 Spiral staircases J WAGNER 20 May 1971 [20 May 1970] 16108/71 Heading E1B A spiral staircase comprises a central supporting pillar 1 and die-cast aluminium steps 3 pivotally engaged around the pillar 1 by an inner socket connected to an outer cylindrical sleeve 16 by vertical webs (17) Fig. 5 (not shown). The. outer periphery of each step has two holes 5, 6 to receive a screw bolt securing each step to the adjacent one and to a bannister. At least one of the holes 5 is in the form of a peripherally extending slot which allows the tread depth of each step to be adjusted' so that the bottom of the staircase may be angularly adjusted with respect to the top. Each step is separated from its adjacent one by means of a cylindrical sleeve (15) Fig. 6 (not shown) which abuts adjacent sleeves 16 of each step.
