Abstract

1292648 Automatic control of nuclear reactors SIEMENS A G 19 Nov 1969 [20 Nov 1968] 56697/69 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] The position of a regulating rod K in a nuclear reactor is controlled by comparing the actual value of radiation in the core with a desired value and using the difference signal to control an electric motor M (see Division H2) driving the rod. When the error signal exceeds a fixed value the motor is operated from an A.C. source as a synchronous motor; when the error signal is less than the fixed value the motor is operated as a variable speed D.C. stepping motor, the actual speed depending on the magnitude of the error signal.
