Abstract
1292384 Centrifugal pumps ETABS POMPES GUINARD 12 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 6726/70 Heading F1C [Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A submersible pump motor 1, Fig.1, is mounted within a fluid-tight container 3, for the liquid to be pumped, and the wires of its stator windings are continued, without discontinuity, from the stator to the exterior of the casing 3, e. g. to a junction box 17. The liquid to be pumped may be a liquified gas, an explosive liquid, or ammonia. The motor shaft 19 is mounted vertically with the impeller 23 at its lower end, the shaft being supported by hydrostatic journal bearings 22, 22' and thrust bearings 26. The bulk of the pumped liquid flows from the impeller to the delivery pipe 25' via an annular passage formed between the motor casing 21 and an outer cylindrical wall 29, but some, for cooling the motor, flows through an aperture 30 into the motor casing and thence back into the container via outlet 31. Some of the pumped liquid is also supplied to the bearings. The wires 34, 34' of the motor windings 32 pass through seals 36, 36' to a compartment 35 on the outside of the motor casing 21, and from there extend through a protective sheath 37 to the wall of the container 3. The fluid-tight container 3 is formed with a well 2, sealed by a cap 5, which contains the pump. The delivery pipe 10 from the pump 1 is coupled to an outlet pipe 7 by a sealed, sliding joint 8, 9 and is supported from a rod 12 screwed into a plug 13. Rotation of plug 13 raises or lowers the pump 1, thus closing or opening a flap valve 15 on the lower end of well 2. (For Figures see next page)
