Abstract

1292165 Charging coke ovens GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 26 Feb 1970 [5 March 1969] 9368/70 Heading F4B [Also in Division G4] A row of coke ovens each having openings 13, 14, 15 are fed with coal from hoppers 61, 62, 63 carried on a travelling frame 57, which because of its length is liable to skew. By means of vanes 25, 27 and sensors on each end of the frame the skew is measured digitally prior to arrival at a row of openings and the travel of the frame is then controlled digitally so it stops with its skew symmetrical about the centre oven opening. The determination of skew is described in Division G4-G6.
