Abstract

1292086 Sampling and testing metals SIEMENS A G 6 Nov 1970 [7 Nov 1969] 53008/70 Heading C7D [Also in Division G6] In a nuclear reaction sodium coolant, monitor sodium is pumped from the reactor into a container where it is evaporated and the residual impurity is removed for analysis. Sodium from the reactor 81 is pumped into the distillation chamber, 1, where it fills the containers, 23, which are then heated electrically. The sodium in 23 evaporates, leaving solid impurities which may be examined in the compartment 6 by raising the cover, 13, which supports 23. During operation the cover 13, is sealed by metal condensate and during distillation the metal vapour is condensed in the walls of chamber 1.
