Abstract

129,193. Burgess, W. E. Nov. 11, 1918. Packing, metallic.-Relates to packing of the type in which two metal rings having their inner and outer peripheries eccentric to one another, and divided at their smaller parts, are placed together with their gaps opposite, and consists in covering the gap in one ring, to prevent the flow of steam &c. radially, by means of a crescentshaped or other projection on the other ring. Fig. 1 shows a piston ring provided with a crescentshaped projection A<5> with an extension A<6> to close the gap A<4>, Fig. 4.
