Abstract

1291715 Packaging pellets KERR-McGEE CORP 11 Dec 1969 [11 Dec 1968] 16478/71 Divided out of 1291713 Heading B8C The description is substantially identical with that according to Figs. 1-6 of Specification 1,291,713 and also includes description of apparatus, Fig. 7, of a pellet packaging apparatus. The claims are directed to an apparatus and a method for packaging pellets on a continuous production line basis. As shown, the pellets, of uranium oxide, are packaged automatically by apparatus comprising a pellet loader 60 which is indexed to rows of packets in a bottom strip 62 to deposit a pellet in each pocket of a continuous belt. The strip is then covered by an upper strip 66, one or both strips being provided with indexing alignment means. The strips are then fed to a sealer 68 and the belt so formed is moved on a conveyer 70 past a cutter 76 which cuts the belt into sections which. are guided by a mechanism 74 into containers 50 moving on a conveyer 72.
