Abstract

1291714 Packaging and unpackaging pellets KERR-McGEE CORP 11 Dec 1969 [11 Dec 1968] 16477/71 Divided out of 1,291,713 Heading B8C The description is substantially identical with that according to Figs. 1-8 of Specification 1,291,713 and also includes description of apparatus for unpackaging pellets. The claims are directed to a protective encasement containing a plurality of pellets and to a method of unpackaging such an encasement. As shown, sections 88, Fig. 8, of a belt consisting of upper and lower strips enclosing pellets, are formed by transverse seals 92, 94 and each section includes a border 96, Fig. 9, in the form of a continuous bubble which is slit at a station 78 of unpackaging apparatus, Fig. 7, where spot welds between pellets are also punched out. The upper strip is then removed at a station 82 and pellets are removed at a station 84. The empty lower strip is cut or rolled at a station 86 for accumulation or disposal. Specification 1,291,715 is referred to.
