Abstract

1291700 Wads KBL ENG Ltd 7 May 1971 [27 May 1970] 25430/70 Heading F3A A wad for a shotgun cartridge comprises a front part 2 for containing the shot, and a rear part 1 having a tubular portion 10 engaging a complementary spigot on the front part 2, which tubular portion, on firing, collapses, and is guided by a circular recess 5 so that it is folded outwardly and backwardly upon itself with the air therein being compressed to act as a buffer. Fins 6 and 9 act as gas seals. Ribs 4 serve to strengthen longitudinally divided portions of the front part 2. The wad is made from polyethylene.
