Abstract

1291629 Valves ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 14 Sept 1970 [13 Sept 1969] 43805/70 Heading F2y A combined relief and bleed valve for an hydraulic pit prop has a bleed valve member 1 movable against spring 7 by rod 17 to disengage seat 3 and connect the prop to exhaust via annulus 6 and gaps 5 defined by flats on the valve member. An elastic sleeve 9 within valve member 1 is biased by a gas loading pressure to close inlet and outlet ports 12, 14. A porous sintered metal ring 15 surrounds the outlet ports. In use, sleeve 9 is distorted by excess pressure in the prop to connect ports 12 and 14. The conical surfaces 3, 4 may alternatively be planar; in either case, one or both of the surfaces can be plastics-coated.
