Abstract

1291282 Antibiotic tablets PFIZER Ltd 18 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 14671/69 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical tablets suitable for oral administration comprise a water-soluble salt of an α-carboxy-ester-substituted arylmethyl penicillin or arylmethyl cephalosporin and a pharmaceutically acceptable α-amino-substituted carboxylic acid. The α-amino-substituted carboxylic acid may be tryptophan, lysine, glutamic acid or preferably glycine and the penicillin may be the sodium or potassium salt of α- [carbo-(2-isopropyl-phenoxy)] benzyl-, α-[carbo-(5-indanyloxy)] benzyl- or α-[carbo-(4-carbomethoxymethyl phenoxy)] benzyl-penicillin. The tablet may also contain an anionic or nonionic surface active agent (e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate) and/or a tabletting lubricant (e.g. magnesium stearate).
