1291266 Topical compositions KOLMAR LABORATORIES Inc 1 Oct 1969 [23 Oct 1968] 48322/69 Heading A5B [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] A composition for topical application comprises an ester of an aliphatic branched chain an alcohol and an aliphatic hydroxy acid, the alcohol containing at least 8 carbon atoms in the molecule and the branch chain being an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms. In particular, the composition may be one comprising a substance (e.g. a surface active agent) capable of defatting human skin, the ester acting to prevent the defatting action of the substance and to reduce the irritational effect of the substance when applied to the skin.
