Abstract

1290446 Steerable toy vehicle GABRIEL INDUSTRIES Inc 6 Feb 1970 5851/70 Heading A6S A wheel mounting assembly for a toy vehicle causes the vehicle to turn by canting the vehicle body relative to a cross member which supports the wheels. The assembly comprises in its illustrated form a cross member 26, which supports an axle 20 to which wheels 16 and 18 are attached, a pivot member 34 fixed to said cross member being loosely connected to the vehicle through an aperture in the bottom surface of the vehicle in which it is retained by means of nut 48 and shoulder defined by enlarged portion 36. A constraining member 54 is attached to the cross member and cooperates with a constraining pin 58 which depends from the under surface of the vehicle and engages in an orifice in 54 so as to limit the degree of movement of the cross member and pivot member relative to the vehicle body. The opening in the bottom surface of the vehicle body through which pivot member is attached to said body, and the orifice in the constraining member 54 are both chamfered from both sides so as to form only a loose line-fit with the members which respectively enter them so as to permit canting and some rotation of the bogie relative to the vehicle body.
