Abstract
1290283 Dough mixer G P STERNBERG 18 Jan 1971 2407/71 Heading B1C A continuous discharge dough mixer has a pre-mixing zone consisting of a screw flight 68 with agitating bars 70 (see also Fig. 11, not shown), a dough developing zone comprising a screw flight 73 with core protuberances as 75, 77 between the turns of the flight, and a discharge zone with an independently rotatable screw flight 85. The screw 73 may gradually increase in diameter from its entry end as at 74. The protuberances 75 .. (see also Figs. 4-9, not shown) are arranged helically round the core (as described, at intervals of 90) and there may be apertures 84 (see also Figs 4-9) in the screw flight 73. The casing 20 may have longitudinal ribs 83 and an arcuate section 27 which can be raised by screws (32) rotated by a crank operated sprocket mechanism 34, 36, 37, 38 to increase the clearance between the screw 73 and the casing. The screws 73, 85 are driven through variable speed mechanisms 58, 50 respectively; the rate of development of the dough may be varied by adjustment of the arcuate casing portion 27 and/or the rotational speed of the screw 73, while the residence time is determined by the speed of rotation of the screw 85.
