Abstract
128,925. Reagan, E. U. G. June 26, 1918, [Convention date]. Pump - actuating mechanism ; actuating pumps by fluid - pressure motors; valves and cocks, arrangement and actuation of.- In a motor of the type described in Specification 2783/12, [Class 122 (iii), Steam-engines, Kinds &c.], wherein a number of double-acting cylinders are arranged around and parallel to the main shaft upon which is mounted an inclined head upon which an inclined ring provided with power-transmitting arms rotates, each of the arms 9 is pivotally mounted at 12 on the ring 10 which runs on ball bearings 14, and is provided with a spherical head 8 mounted in blocks 6 which slide in a tubular bushing 5 in the corresponding piston. The arms 9 have enlargements at their pivots which abut and limit their angular movements. The distribution is effected by slotted disk-valves 32 keyed to sleeves 34, mounted on the shaft. which are angularly adjusted to reverse the engine by pins in slidable sleeves 41, keyed to the shaft. engaging helical slots in the sleeves 34. The heads 1 are bored to receive tubular cylinders 2 against which they are clamped by bolts 3. The cylinders are enclosed by a banded steel jacket 25. One.end of the apparatus may be used as a compressor, or both ends may be so used, the shaft being rotated independently.
