Abstract

1288832 Automatic control of linear speed HERBERT MORRIS Ltd 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 11816/70 Addition to 1065562 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] A sliding lift door is controlled by a linear induction motor B and a transistorized control circuit. The control circuit comprises a power supply, a reverse braking circuit 2, door minimum speed circuit 3, overspeed circuit 4 and a fail safe circuit 5. To open the door contact P3 is closed and the door accelerates at full thrust to its required speed, when the output of the tachogenerator D will cause the motor thrust to be reduced so that the door coasts at constant speed. On reaching a limit switch the motor thrust will reverse and brake the door to a standstill, when the tachogenerator output is zero the door slowly moves again to a final limit switch and stops. The closing sequence is similar except that a door edge safety switch P4 is provided in case the door meets an obstruction. If the door exceeds a set speed reverse thrust braking is applied. Resistances R 1 , R 2 are provided to slow the motor, although chokes or a transformer may be used instead, and contacts C 1 , C 2 are used to reverse the motor current. Footmat switch operation, or impulse operation using a photo-cell and a light beam may be used.
