Abstract
1288339 Switch contact alloy GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 21 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 60489/70 Addition to 1148978 Heading C7A [Also in Division H1] The engaging contacts of a vacuum switch comprise an alloy of copper and beryllium, the latter comprising 6-19% by weight, which is free from any volatile insoluble metals. The alloy is said to have superior weld inhibiting properties and the metals excluded from the alloy are bismuth and like low melting point metals usually added to reduce welding.
