1288307 Initiating doffing of wound packages; measuring package diameter LEESONA CORP 9 Nov 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 53165/70 Headings DID D1F and D1J The carriage 18 moves back and forth along the tracks 16 to scan bobbins 12, the scanning being effected by a pair of photo-sensitive cells 32-1 and 32-2 that cause a signal to be emitted when a package reaches a predetermined diameter, the signal causing the package to be doffed. Lamps 36 project beams of light 37 to form spots of intense light on opposite edge portions of completed bobbins. When the diameter of a bobbin has increased sufficiently both cells 32-1 and 32-2 are simultaneously actuated by light rays from said spots passing through a lense 35. The cells 32-1 and 32-2 then complete a circuit through an amplifier and a relay to cause the completed bobbin to be doffed.
