1288150 Epoxybutyl esters DAINIPPON INK & CHEMICALS Inc 12 June 1970 [14 June 1969] 28661/70 Addition to 1266066 Headings C3B and C3R [Also in Division H2] Moulded articles are prepared by curing poly- 2,3-epoxybutyl esters of cycloaliphatic polycarboxylic acids, e.g. hexahydro-, tetrahydro- or endomethylenetetrahydro - phthalic acid, methylcyclohexane-2,3,4-tetracarboxylic acid, 2,2,6,6 - tetrakis(2 - carboxyethyl)cyclohexanone or cyclopentanetetracarboxylic acid. Preferred curing agents are cycloaliphatic polycarboxylic acids optionally accelerated by tertiary amines. The preparation of the 2,3-epoxy-butyl esters of the above acids is described by reaction with 1 - chloro-2,3-epoxy-isobutane and also of a poly- 2,3-epoxybutyl ester of an oligomer prepared from cyclopentanetetracarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol.
