Abstract
1287816 Mechanical garage A P GENEST and J C L ASSELIN 26 March 1970 [26 March 1969] 14904/70 Heading B8E A garage comprises a row of independently vertically movable storage units S1-S5 arranged between entry and exit stations 10, 11 and each is provided with a plurality of rows of vehicle cells. Each unit S, Fig. 5, comprises a frame 50 in which the cells are formed and which is counter-weighted at 57 and is driven up and down track assemblies 51 by motors mounted in housings 54, Fig. 4, at ground level acting through cables 55 passing over pulleys 56. Each cell has side rails 70, 71 and a raised central portion 72 shaped to position a vehicle driven into the cell transversely of the cell and a recess such as 80 to position it lengthwise. Vehicles are driven from the entrance 10 into a vacant cell at the same level in the first unit or through or over it into a vacant cell in one of the succeeding units. A vehicle to be withdrawn may be similarly driven to the exit 11. Hydraulically driven elevating systems may replace the drive motors.
