Abstract

1287199 Softening textiles BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FARIK AG 23 Jan 1970 [25 Jan 1969] 3367/70 Heading D1P [Also in Division C2] A method for softening textile fibrous material, e.g. nylon, rayon, cotton, polyester or polyacrylonitrile materials comprises applying a compound of the formula: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a C 15 -C 21 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R<SP>2</SP> is a methyl radical or a radical of the formula: R<SP>4</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, n is an integer from 1 to 10, R<SP>3</SP> is a radical of the formula: A and B each denote an alkylene radical of 2 or 3 carbon atoms, X and Y are each -NH- or -O-, m is zero or 1, and Z is an anion, as an aqueous liquor, e.g. solution or organic solvent solution and the material is freed from excess liquor and dried. The aqueous liquor preferably contains 0.1 to 30 g/l of the compound and has a pH of from 5 to 10. The drying is preferably carried out at from 80 to 100‹C. The substances may be applied together with crease-proofing resins, e.g. dimethylolurea, dimethylol propyleneurea, dimethylol ethylene urea or dimethyl glyoxal monourein.
