1287183 Photographic process for producing two images INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 6 March 1970 [13 March 1969 (2)] 10753/70 Heading G2C A method of producing two separate images comprises providing a first light-sensitive coating on an area of a support, imagewise exposing and developing the latent image produced on exposure, providing a second light-sensitive coating on a different area of the support so that it does not overlap the image and imagewise exposing and developing to produce a second image. Preferably the light-sensitive coating is a diazotype material and the first image is produced by imagewise exposing a uniformly coated support so that an image is only produced on an area of the coating. The second image is produced by transferring a diazotype material on a temporary support under heat and pressure to an area of the support not containing the first image. Preferably this transfer material is an unsubbed polymerine film which acts as temporary support coated with a diazotype layer preferably containing a binder such as an acrylic or vinyl polymer or a cellulose ester, 2 diazonium compounds, 3 couplers and 1 toluene sulphonic acid and overcoated with a layer preferably containing polyvinyl acetate or polyvinylidene chloride and an arylsulphonamide formaldehyde. The overcoated and light-sensitive layers are scored so that only small areas of these layers are transferred to the support containing the first image. The process is generally used for microfide work. The diazotype material may be developed by using ammonia under pressure. A vesicular material may also be used in the process.
