Abstract

1287113 Hydraulic couplings WALLACEMURRAY CORP 25 Aug 1969 [9 Sept 1968] 42178/69 Heading F2C [Also in Division F1] A cooling system of an I.C. engine includes a fan 68 drivable by a shaft 22 via a silicone-fluidshear clutch 5. When the pressure of the cooling liquid in a closed cooling circuit 36 increases due to increasing temperature, a bellows 26 which is in communication with the circuit 36 via shaft bore 24, moves a piston 50 leftwards and causes a metallic spring strip 54 in the clutch to move towards the dash-line position 58 wherein it uncovers a fluid transfer port 56 and thereby causes the clutch to engage the fan with the driving-shaft 22.
