Abstract

1286608 Screw-and-nut mechanism; shaft couplings WARNER ELECTRIC BRAKE & CLUTCH CO 29 April 1971 [19 May 1970] 12239/71 Headings F2Q and F2U A nut 11 comprises a body portion 19 made of resiliently yieldable material, such as nylon, and formed with threads 21 engaging a screw 10, and a plurality of fingers 25 integral with and extending from one end of the body portion 19, the fingers having teeth which are urged resiliently into engagement with the threads of the screw 10 in order to take up back-lash. The fingers 25 may be spiralled at the helix angle of the screw-thread, or they may be axially directed, Fig. 9, and provided with teeth 66, Fig. 10. A garter spring urges the fingers 25 against the screw 10. In a modification, the screw-thread has zero helix angle, Fig. 8.
