Abstract
1286562 Coated metal DAUBERT CHEMICAL CO 21 Jan 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 2964/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C3 and C4-5] Metal - underbodies of road vehicles are undersealed with a composition consisting of a thixotropic mixture of 80-96% by wt. of a water-insoluble asphaltic or resinous coating agent and a volatile organic solvent therefor, the resin constituting 40-50% by wt. of the two, and 20-40% by wt. of asbestos fibres of diameter 0.025Á and length 1-10Á and having a surface area of 60m<SP>2</SP>/g. A coating of 5-30 mils thickness is applied. In Example 10, test metal panels are coated to 10 mils with the inventive and comparative compositions.
