Abstract

1286245 Ear clips J A W P VAN BERGEN 11 Aug 1969 [24 Aug 1968] 40554/68 Addition to 976341 Heading A3H [Also in Division E2] An ear clip made of precious metal comprises pivoted members 1, 2 the member 2 having lugs 7 for pivotally mounting limbs 4, 5 of a bifurcation of the member 1 and resilient, arcuate, slightly diverging limbs 8 each of which has a protuberance which engages in a recess in a side of a resilient element 12 which fits between the limbs 8 to urge the limbs apart and thereby impart resilience to the limbs for frictionally engaging the lugs 7. Alternatively a U shaped spring metal element is similarly fitted between parallel limbs 8. A space S between the base of the limbs 8 and the resilient element allows for movement of the parts when the member 1 clamps the lobe of the ear. The member 2 has an eye 11 for supporting an ornament.
