Abstract

1286220 Waste-disposal units SO M A T CORP 4 May 1971 [20 July 1970] 12899/71 Heading B2A A waste-disposal unit comprises a chamber 14, Fig. 1, a disc impeller 15, having upwardly projecting shear teeth 22, a perforated cylindrical member 12 closely surrounding the impeller, stationary shear members 24 having an edge cooperating with an edge of the shear tooth 22, a baffle 20 to deflect material inwards towards the cutting edges of the stationary shear members, and interrupter members 25 mounted on the inner wall of the perforated cylindrical member 12 to cooperate with the tooth 22, and projecting towards the central axis of the chamber 14. The interrupter members 25 facilitate loosening cutting and removal of fibrous material which tends to collect between the shear teeth and the perforated cylindrical member. The included angle A, Fig. 2, between the leading edge of each tooth 22 and each tooth 24 is from 35‹ to 55‹, and thus permits a progressive cut. A specific clearance can be set by adjustment of teeth 24. Similar progressive cutting is provided between members 25 and teeth 22, the included angle B, Fig. 2 varying between O‹ and 35‹ and preferably 16‹ to 35‹.
