1285987 Echo-sounders SIMRAD AS 28 Oct 1969 [29 Oct 1968] 52781/69 Heading H4D [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for storage and delayed recording of echo signals comprises a converter 1 producing binary pulses, a binary shift register 2 "clocked" by pulses from a generator 3 and gates P1 ... Pn reading the register content to stationary marking devices M1 ... Mn. The clock pulses are passed via a gate 6 which is closed by a signal from an amplitude discriminator 4 having a threshold corresponding to a boundary of the range of interest. Preferably the width of a binary pulse is T/2, where T is the transmitted pulse duration, and the number of storage positions in the register is 2d/(CT) where d is the extent of the range and C is velocity of propagation.
