Abstract

1285941 Coating apparatus LA MERS LABELER CORP 29 Aug 1969 [30 Aug 1968] 26275/69 Heading B2L [Also in Division B8] In an apparatus for applying a glue coating to labels, an electrically heated body 68 receives a continuous supply of heated glue through a passage 70 to supply chamber 75 via entrance 71'. A piston 76, operated by air from cylinder 77, forces the glue through exhaust valve 73 to distributor plate 81, and has an adjustable stroke to control the amount of glue applied. An applicator plate, to further distribute the glue and control its flow, contacts the labels and is made of fine porous metal i.e. sintered bronze. Both plates are held against the body by a frame 85, this has a peripheral gutter 91 from which excess glue is drawn off through vacuum aperture 93.
