Abstract
1285036 Rolling tubes UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 2 Dec 1969 [13 Dec 1968] 59390/68 Addition to 1163583 Heading B3M The end of a zirconium alloy tube 7 is joined to the end of a steel tube 6, to provide a nuclear reactor pressure tube, by forming annular grooves 8 in the interior of the steel tube, inserting the tube 7 within the tube 6, and roll swaging the tubes into engagement, the tube ends being supported externally by a collar during the swaging. A small clearance between the ring 1 of the collar and the tube 6 permits the tubes to be elastically deformed into contact with the ring during swaging.
