1284960 Radio signalling; substation equipment INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 11 June 1970 [16 June 1969] 28279/70 Headings H4K and H4L In a cordless telephone in which radio units in the handset and the instrument body on which the handset rests when not in use convey speech signals between the handset and the body, a variable gain amplifier in the radio transmitter circuit in the body provides maximum gain at the lowest input speech signal level and reduces the gain as the level increases, and in the handset the transmitter and receiver are coupled by means additional to the coupling via the hybrid and variable gain amplifier in the instrument body, to ensure that a minimum level of sidetone signal is available. As described the transmitter and receiver in the handset are coupled via a resistor, a capacitor, or a transformer.
