Abstract

1375919 Hearing aids; inductive signalling VIENNATONE HORGERATE PRODUKTIONS GmbH 6 Dec 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 56200/72 Headings H4J and H4U An adaptor, for amplifying signals from a telephone receiver 4 and providing for inductive coupling of the amplified signals to a "telephone coil" of a hearing aid, comprises a piezoelectric or capacitor microphone 3, a transistor amplifier mounted on a circuit board 2, a battery (Fig. 2, not shown), and an iron cored coil 7 for providing inductive coupling to a hearing aid telephone coil situated within 10 cm. of the adaptor. The adaptor is mounted on the receiver 4 by a rubber sleeve 11 and a switch 10 is provided which is held depressed to operate the adaptor. Alternatively a mercury switch may be provided which switches on the adaptor when the hand set is held vertically or the adaptor can be made as two telescopically engaging parts such that when the ear piece of the adaptor is pressed against the ear a switch is actuated. Sound apertures 5 are provided to enable the receiver to be used conventionally with the adaptor mounted. Figures 3, 4 (not shown), illustrate a variation in arrangement of the adaptor wherein most of the components are mounted so as to lie adjacent the periphery of receiver 4 thereby reducing the dimension of the adaptor in the axial direction thereof. The amplifier may be arranged to have a frequency response which compensates for the low frequency loss in the receiver-microphone coupling due to the apertures 5, and for the high frequency boost caused by the inductive coupling.
