Abstract

1,154,262. Radio & inductive signalling; substation circuits. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 5 Oct., 1967 [14 Oct., 1966], No. 45390/67. Addition to 1,098,729. Headings H4K, H4L and H4V. In a circuit arrangement for a telephone subscriber's instrument a cordless handset comprises a switch s, Fig. 1, which connects a battery OB, for a transmitter S1 and a receiver E1, when the handset is lifted from the cradle of the instrument body. The handset also comprises an operating key having changeover switches BT1, BT2 the arms of which are connected respectively to the switch s and to a dynamic microphone M. If the operating key is actuated when the handset is lifted the switches BT1, BT2 respectively connect the battery OB via the switch s to the transmitter S1 and the receiver E1, and the microphone M to the transmitter S1. If the operating key is not so actuated an audible attention signal is emitted by the handset or the instrument body, or by both. As described, a tone generator HTG1 is provided in the handset which is connected to the dynamic microphone M and the battery OB when the switch s is operated and the switches BT1, BT2 are not operated. A tone generator HTG2, Fig. 2, and an associated dynamic microphone RK may be provided in the instrument body, power being supplied via a cradle switch contact GU2 when the handset is lifted. Operation of the tone generator HTG2 is however inhibited so long as a carrier signal is being received from the handset, a control lead K being provided from the output of the I.F. amplifier ZV of the instrument body receiver E2. The circuit may also be arranged so that the tone generator HTG2 and the microphone RK function additionally to receive ringing incoming on the subscriber's line La/b, so replacing the bell circuit C, W.
