Abstract

1284649 Pyrazolones AGFA-GEVAERT AG 24 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8761/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Novel pyrazolones of formula in which R 1 is an optionally substituted alkyl group, R 2 is a C 1-8 alkyl group, a phenyl group optionally substituted with sulphonic and/or carboxylic acid groups, or the group OR 4 , R 3 is an optionally substituted phenyl group and R 4 is an optionally substituted phenyl or phenoxyalkyl group, may be prepared by known methods. In an example the following compounds were prepared: (1) α-methyl-#-imino-#- ethoxy-propionic acid ethyl ester from α-cyanopropionic acid ethyl ester; (2) p-methyl sulphonyl-phenyl hydrazine from p-aminophenylmethylsulphone; (3) 1-(41-methylsulphonylphenyl) - 3 - amino - 4 - methylpyrazolone - (5) from (1) and (2); (4) 2-tetradecyl-4-chloro-5- methylphenol from 4-chloro-m-cresol; (5) 2-(2<SP>1</SP>- tetradecyl - 4<SP>1</SP> - chloro - 5<SP>1</SP>- methylphenoxy)- ethanol-(1) from (4) and 2-chloroethanol; (6) 2- (2<SP>1</SP>-tetradecyl - 41 - chloro - 5<SP>1</SP> - methylphenoxy)- ethyl-chloroformate-(1) from (5) and dimethylaniline; (7) the coupler of formula from (3) and (6).
