Abstract
1284317 Model railway turntable M ERNST 3 Aug 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 37359/70 Heading A6S In a toy turntable having a bridge 4 driven through an electric motor 22, a clutch and reduction gearing 43-50, and a toothed wheel 42 engaging a toothed rim 3 of the 'turntable base 1, a projection 66 on a spring-loaded switch lever 67 engages a notched cam 64 on the toothed wheels shaft 41 and an arm 73 on the lever 67 is engageable with a motor switch 74 so as to (a) maintain an electric current to the motor when rotation is initiated until (b) the projection 66 engages a notch 65 of the cam, when it switches off the motor. The spacing between notches corresponds to the angular spacing of railway sidings, e.g. 18, Fig. 3, around the turntable's rim. A further arm 75 on the lever 67 is engageable with a contact arm 76 to give a signal to an indicating device. The clutch comprises a worm wheel 49 on a lever 53, 54 normally spring biassed out of engagement with a worm 50 on the motor shaft: on switching on the motor, a centrifugal weight device urges a pin 63 against the lever to urge the worm and worm wheel into engagement. The bridge 4 carries wheels 10 rotatable on a rail 2 of the base 1.
