Abstract

1284291 Transverse-flow fans ELEKTROINSTALLATION OBERLIND VEB 2 Sept 1969 43421/69 Heading F1C A transverse-flow fan has an oscillatory housing 7. The housing is oscillated through a slidable clutch 8 by an internally-toothed element 6 which is, in turn, oscillated through gear-train 3, 4, 5 associated with a change-over member 4. With gear 2 on driving motor shaft 1 in engagement with gear 3 as shown, the element 6 is moved in one direction around the axis of shaft 1 until the slack in a wear-resistant thread 11 is taken up, whereafter further movement of element 6 causes the change-over member 4 to pivot to a position in which gear 3<SP>1</SP> instead engages the gear 2 to thereby cause the element 6 to move in the opposite direction, and so on. Spring 13 flexes when the thread becomes taut and thereby stores energy which is used in completing the pivotal movement of member 4. The amplitude of the resulting oscillation is controlled by adjusting the amount of slack in the thread by rotating knob 10. Also, knob 10 can be rotated to cause a cam 16 and cooperating lever 15 to move a slide 14 into engagement with one of slanting sides 17 of member 4, to thereby pivot the latter into a position in which both gears 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are disengaged from gear 2 to stop oscillation of housing 7.
