Abstract

1284201 Measuring pressure electrically SENTRALINSTITUTT FOR INDUSTRIELL FORSKNING 22 April 1971 [22 April 1970] 10868/71 Heading G1N A pressure gauge comprises a diaphragm 8 Fig.1, formed integrally with a ring 2, having a thickened central portion 9 to which is attached a pillar 10 with a hole into which a silicon strip 5 protudes. The strip is fixed between two wires 6 secured in an insulating rod 7 in the wall of the ring 2. A pointed screw 11, 12 is threaded into the pillar 10 from each end until it touches the strip 5, each screw being offset with respect to the axis of the strip. Each face of the strip has a semi-conductor element diffused into it whereby the strip constitutes two resistance elements connected between wires 6, which vary differentially as a pressure on diaphragm 8 causes screw 11 or 12 to apply a twist to the free end of the strip. The changes in resistance are measured in a bridge network.
