Abstract

1283742 Lids for packages SIDAPLAX 13 July 1970 [13 Aug 1969] 40374/69 Heading B8C [Also in Division C3] A package comprises a lid of biaxially orientated high impact polystyrene sealed to the rim of an open container. The lid may be flat or may be thermoformed to accommodate the shape of the contents or to strengthen it. The container may have a flange around its rim to which the lid is sealed by adhesive, solvent or heat sealing. The biaxially orientated high impact polystyrene of the lid contains from 3 to 10% by weight of a rubber which may be natural rubber, polybutadiene or a styrene/ butadiene copolymer. The container may be made of paper, paper pulp, or cardboard, or of thermoplastic resins such as polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, polycarbonates, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, isotactic polypropylene, a styrene polymer, polystyrene or a styrene copolymer such as styrene acrylonitrile copolymers.
