Abstract

1283728 Measuring frequencies GENERAL RADIO CO 30 Oct 1969 53275/69 Headings G4A and G4H In determining the frequency of a signal from a source 3 in terms of pulses from a clock 1, the measurement period is determined by a programme controlled by registers 7, 5 receiving the pulses from 3, 1, respectively. After the measurement is completed the frequency is computed and indicated at 23. A monitor 9 continuously compares the two most significant decimal digits from clock register 5 and the lowest decimal digit from signal register 7. If the former exceeds 48 while the latter is 0 or 1 then control circuit 11 stops the measurement at the next signal from 3. Similarly for valves 78 and 2-7, or if the register exceeds 8 when the highest digit in 5 is 9. An arithmetic unit 20 then divides the valve in 7 by that in 5 by repeated subtraction with decimal shift to give the answer in register 26 and indicators 23.
