Abstract

1283582 Measuring and plotting devices COLLON CO Ltd and P R WOTTON 8 May 1970 [20 June 1969] 31284/69 Headings G1M and G1X A measuring and plotting device comprises a base 1 provided with a scale 2 indicating angular deviation of an arm 3 which is pivotally supported on the base 1, and with an extensible tape measure supported by the arm 3 and arranged such that the free end 7 of the tape 6 is extensible longitudinally of the arm and parallel to the plane of the base. The extensible tape measure is provided on one face of the tape 6 with a longitudinal line 12 and on the opposite face with length graduations 10 which are viewable through a window 13 in a casing 5, the tape 6 being retractable into the casing by a coiled spring 9 when a manually operable ratchet device 11 is released. A sighting aperture 4a is provided in the base 1 and the arm 3 at the pivot point thereof for alignment with a reference mark on a surface which supports the device. The tape measure can then be extended by a selected amount and at a selected angle relative to the base scale 2 and the free end of the tape 6 is so provided with a disc 7 having an aperture 8 that a point can be marked either by a pencil or a pin 15 at such location determined by the selected angle and selected length.
