Abstract
1283505 Aryl substituted alkanol-thioalkylamines ALFA FARMACEUTICI SpA 3 May 1971 [18 May 1970] 12793/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including salts thereof) where Y<SP>1</SP> and Y<SP>2</SP> are H or a free, etherified or esterified hydroxy, R<SP>1</SP> is C 2 to C 6 hydroxyalkylene, the hydroxy group of which is not bound to the same carbon as is bound to nitrogen, and R<SP>2</SP> is C 2 to C 6 alkylene, are made by condensing (II) or its salt with (III), or (VII) or its salt with (VI) (X is halogen and R<SP>3</SP> is C 2 to C 6 hydroxyalkylene or oxoalkylene; if R<SP>3</SP> is oxoalkylene the keto-amine obtained is subsequently reduced). Compounds (I) may be converted one into the other by standard methods. The following compounds are also prepared: 1 - phenylthio - 2 - bromopropane and p - benzoyloxy - α - (1<SP>1</SP> - methyl - 2<SP>1</SP> - phenylthioethylamino)-propiophenone hydrochloride. Pharmaceutical preparations having diuretic and hypotensive action, suitable in the treatment of coronary diseases and acting as peripheral vasodilators contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration may be orally or by injection.
