1283385 Fertilizers comprising oxidation products of coal-like materials AMERICAN HYDROCARBON CO 1 Oct 1969 [8 Oct 1968 9 Oct 1968] 48202/69 Heading C1B [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] A process for oxidizing coal (including peat and lignite), comprises the steps of crushing the coal, mixing water with the crushed coal, introducing the mixture into a reaction zone maintained at a temperature below the boiling point of water, introducing into the reaction zone oxygen and a catalytic amount of an oxide of nitrogen or an oxy-acid of nitrogen and recovering the oxidation products. The products may be used in fertilizer compositions.
