Abstract

1283333 Containers erectable from blanks SVENSK INDUSTRIS KONSTRUKTIONSOCH BERAKNINGSKONTOR SIKOB AB 12 Jan 1970 [13 Jan 1969 10 Feb 1969] 1338/70 Heading B8P A container which is erected from the blank shown in Fig. 1 has triangular end walls 4, 5 connected to a rectangular base wall 1 by a crease line and to side walls 2, 3 by gussets 6-9 so that the end walls 4, 5 may be snapped open to form a reclosable spout (Fig. 4). The container may be rendered suitable for fluids by providing either a liner (41, Fig. 4) having a tearoff corner portion and an adjacent portion glued to wall 5 or tear-off triangular gusset extensions (Figs. 5, 6) which, with the gussets, overlap the external surfaces of the side walls prior to an initial opening of the container, the container being reclosed as shown in Fig. 2. Flaps 10, 11 may be joined together by adhesive, tape, or staples. The whole or two end portions of the flap 11 may be inserted between the wall 2 and the gussets 6, 8 (Figs. 8-11) and the flap 10 may form a handle (Fig. 7), be provided with slots (26, Fig. 7) for receiving articles e.g. fork, serviette and may be folded to form a tube (Fig. 9) in which case the free end of the flap may be bonded to itself (Fig. 9) or to the side wall 2. If the end portions of the flaps 11 are only inserted, the centre portion (27, Figs. 10, 11) may be passed through a transverse slot (28, Fig. 11) in the flap 10, folded to form an article-receiving tube and passed back through the transverse slot. The side walls 2, 3 may comprise rectangles as shown or trapeziums so that the end walls 4, 5 are inclined. To amplify the end wall snap action, crease lines 1c, 1d may be curved and the middle portions of the crease lines 1a, 1b may be weak or omitted. The crease lines 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b and 12, may be more accentuated than crease lines 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b so that gussets 6-9 lie near the inner surfaces of the side walls 2, 3, Fig. 2. Each gusset may be shortened by lap jointing the edges 19 of a cut so that, upon opening, the container forms a dish.
