Abstract

MK REFRIGERATION Ltd 13 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 19300/69 Heading F4H Liquid to be cooled is passed through a coil 20 which, together with a refrigerant evaporator 19, is immersed in water W, the refrigeration apparatus which feeds the evaporator being operable independently of a stirrer in the water. The stirrer may, as illustrated, be a circulating pump 27 or may be a rotary stirrer driven by a motor mounted outside the water tank 17. Separate manually operated switches are provided, Fig. 1 (not shown), for supplying power to the refrigeration apparatus and to the stirrer. In operation, the stirrer is not switched on until an adequate ice-bank has built up on the evaporator. The stirrer is then automatically switched on or off according to the temperature of the product entering the coil 20. The refrigeration apparatus is operated automatically in response to signals from a temperature senser to maintain an ice-bank of constant thickness. Lower and upper pipes 23 and 24 leading to the water tank are connected by a flexible tube 25 whose upper end may be disconnected and connected to a water supply when the tank is to be filled. The liquid to be cooled may be beer, a soft drink, or oil.
