Abstract
1282934 Methacrolein oxidation catalysts JAPANESE GEON CO Ltd 29 July 1969 [1 Aug 1968] 38118/69 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst for the oxidation of methacrolein to methacrylic acid (see Division C2) comprises Mo, Pd and/or Pt, As and O in chemically combined form. The catalyst may also contain at least one of P, B or Si. The atomic ratios of Mo to Pd and/or Pt, As to Pd and/or Pt and P, B, and/or Si to Pd and/or Pt may be within the ranges 2-50, 0.1-10 and 0.2-10, respectively. The catalyst may be carried on a support of silicon carbide, colloidal silica, alumina or a refractory material.
